Phoenix Room
Access to the Phoenix Room, installed on the roof of the Kunsthalle, is limited to a limited number of visitors by appointment. The uppermost hole of the “H-Hole” is covered with a glass sphere in which a tree is grown from a seed. During the day, the Reflection Room reveals the roots and leaves of the plant, embedded in the daylight. The integration of the plant into the artwork manifests a central idea in the paraphrase of natural development.
The floor of the Phoenix Room is filled with water, creating a reflective effect at certain angles. The walls are lined with glass mirrors, creating the impression of infinite space for the viewer. The space designed here is flooded with natural light during the day, and at night โ especially in summer โ offers a panorama of the starry sky. Blacklight and purple light sources, carefully integrated into the context, transform a stay in this space into a particularly intense perceptual experience.
